Year of the 2020, what dou you remember in this year? It’s bad memorıes and new beginning. This virus, which started in China, has gradually begun to spread to the entire world. Initially thought to be a simple flu, it was later understood to be a major pandemic. Humanity has encountered similar threats in the past, but this time it could respond more quickly. The period historically known as the Black Death is referred to as the Dark Ages. The disease, also known as the Black Death due to the rapid discoloration of the bodies of the afflicted after death, claimed the lives of an estimated 75 to 200 million people in Europe, Asia, and North Africa between 1346 and 1353.

BLACK DEATH

Societies have faced disasters before, but they had never encountered such a serious situation. According to some, God had initiated this outbreak as a punishment for humanity.. The only hope for the people living in fear was to avoid getting sick and wait for a cure to be found. The healers of the time did their best using the available resources. The problem was that the pandemic didn’t discriminate; it affected kings, doctors, and commoners alike, one by one.

Like in every hardship, people were asking this question:

WİLL THIS BE  THE ANNIHILATION OF HUMANKIND ?

So far in history, there have been nearly 10 pandemic events. Every time, the same question has been asked. “Is this the end of humanity? ” Humanity is in a hunter’s position. It has an internal mechanism for self-defense against potential threats. In general, this defense has been successful throughout history. In 2020, humanity faced a new survival challenge that surpassed its own abilities to stay alive.

WAR OR DİE: COVID-19

As we entered the 21st century, a new pandemic began. But this time, we had better-prepared technologies. Our advantages such as international communication, social solidarity, and advancing technology ensured that this pandemic was overcome with fewer casualties.. Except for the mild variants that were overcome in about 2-3 years, mortality was minimized.

WHAT DID THE PANDEMIC TAKE FROM US AND BRING TO US?

Perhaps it’s still too early to say something definitive about the effects as we enter 2024. When we look at short-term effects, we can’t ignore how inadequate healthcare systems are and the presence of vaccine hesitancy even in highly educated countries. When we look at short-term effects, we can’t ignore how inadequate healthcare systems are and the presence of vaccine hesitancy even in highly educated countries. When we consider its social and psychological impact, individuals who spent two years at home struggled to adapt to the outside world after the pandemic. The increase in depression cases supports this idea.

We will observe the biological and societal effects that will develop in the next 5-10 years.
